Karen Purvis sessions at the Orphan Summit

Here are some of my notes from Karen Purvis sessions at the Orphan Summit…

Prov 17:6 ..the glory of children is their fathers.  When a child looks into a parents face, they see who they are.  It is there that the child’s identity is revealed.  The same way we look into our Heavenly Fathers’ face and see who we are.

Ministry to the broken child requires:

1. Intimacy with God: Fasting and prayer to connect with our heavenly Father.

2. Purity of Heart:   Mathew 5:  “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”.

Ministry requires us to be on the journey of looking into our heavenly father’s face so we can know who we are so that when a child looks into our eyes they can see who they are.

God is relational –  He is three in one.  We are created in His image, therefore we are relational. We are created to connect and behold Him.

We are the eyes and face of Jesus to the broken little ones.  They were created to connect and behold but have not been given the chance to do it according to God’s design from birth.  That is what they truly long for now.

The worst behaving troubled child is the one with the most tender heart, working hard to protect themselves.  They are crying out for connection and intimacy, they just don’t know how to go about it.

“We are all called to the ministry of the widow and the orphan, it is part of our DNA as believers.”
