OJC’s July Prayer Initiative
By Katie Conely on July 5th, 2012

Each month, we will be focusing our prayer on the fatherless in a particular nation. For the month of July, we are praying for the fatherless in Russia every Friday at 6:00am in the IHOPKC Global Prayer Room, and we want you to join your prayer with ours! We want a corporate body to go before the Lord carrying this nation in our hearts and petitions. You can join us at ihopkc.org, where the prayer room is broadcasted live, 24/7. Watch now »

About Children at Risk in Russia*
Over 700,000 orphans live in Russia, increasing at the rate of 113,000 per year. UNICEF estimates that 95 percent of these children are social orphans, meaning that they have at least one living parent who has given them up to the state. The number of orphanages in Russia has increased by more than 100 percent in the last decade, and approximately 15,000 children leave these orphanages each year, usually at the age of 16 or 17. During the last 10 years, the population of children in Russia has decreased by four million, and 64 percent of pregnancies end in abortion (christiantelegraph.com). 617,000 Russian children are disabled; only 15–20 percent of newborns are considered healthy.

Join with Us in These Prayer Points
Tomorrow, July 6 at 6:00am, we will begin focused prayer for Russian children.

  • Pray that God will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, and will restore the value of the family in that nation. (Mal. 4:6)
  • Ask the Father to give the church in Russia revelation of the Father’s heart for them and for the fatherless. (Eph. 1:17–19)
  • Ask God to move the church in Russia to action, to take care of the orphans. (Jas. 1:17)
  • Pray for the transformation of orphanages, asking the Lord to give dreams and encounters to directors, caregivers, and orphans. (Acts 2:17)
  • Pray for the 15,000 teens who will exit the system in Russia this year, asking the Lord to give them safe places and protection from wicked and unreasonable men (human trafficking and the mafia). (2 Thes. 3:2)
  • Pray that these 15,000 would be led to Jesus. (Isa. 59:1)
